The Ecology, Behavior and Evolution Major

The major in ECOLOGY, BEHAVIOR AND EVOLUTION (EBE) studies the relationships among living beings, their patterns of behavior and the forces that influence their evolution. Students in the EBE major usually pursue careers in field research and academia. This is also a popular major for Pre-Veterinary students.

Students in the EBE major are required to participate in either the Field Biology Quarter (FBQ) or the Marine Biology Quarter (MBQ). The field quarters provide undergraduates with the opportunity to live the life of a biological researcher. Under the guidance of department faculty and graduate assistants, the students design their own research projects, reside and collect data at a field station, conduct experiments to test their hypotheses, and present their work at the end of the quarter. Moreover, some of our undergraduates have had their research published in major peer-reviewed journals.
