Senior Research Associate
The San Diego Zoo and the UCLA Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology are hiring a Senior Research Associate for the mountain yellow-legged frog conservation breeding and reintroduction program is responsible for carrying out laboratory, clinical, animal care, and research protocols. The Senior Research Associate will work primarily at the University of California Los Angeles located on campus at UCLA and may occasionally assist with field work during times of peak need for collection of new animals, to assess wild populations or during reintroduction to the wild.
Representative qualifications include Master’s degree in biological science or a related field and experience with husbandry, trapping and behavioral ecology experiments of amphibians and fish and with biological research in general.
A successful applicant will be conscientious with animal care; have good communication skills; record-keeping skills; ability to design and implement research and analyze data; ability to use word processing, database, and spreadsheets; ability to collect biological samples; ability to show leadership skills and work effectively under a variety of environments including independently and with others. This position requires the use of a personal car. This is a full-time fully benefited grant funded position. It is currently funded for 1 year and could be extended with additional funding.
