Last year, our department hosted the 1st Annual Research Day Celebration, consisting a Judged Poster Sessions, Lightning Talks, and Reception, concluding with an Award Ceremony. It was such a success and we truly enjoyed learning about the amazing research our EEB community is conducting.
This year we are happy to announce our 2nd Annual Research Day Celebration! We invite our UCLA community to join us as we celebrate the amazing work our undergraduate student, graduate student, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty are working on.

2:00-3:00pm – Judged Poster Sessions*
3:30-4:30pm – Lighting Talks
4:30-6pm – Awards Ceremony & Public viewing of posters

Are you interested in becoming a Judge?
Are you interesting in helping with the poster judging portion of the event?
You should apply to become a poster session judge!
Commitments:
- Review submitted poster sessions beforehand via BruinLearn (Canvas)
- Complete and submit their judging form by our submission deadline
- Attend and review the posters in-person during our Research Day (preferred but not required)

Are you an EEB-affiliated student interested in participating in the Poster Session?
Are you a student (undergraduate or graduate) and conducted research within the EEB department and would like to present a poster?
Criteria:
- Must be affiliated with EEB (i.e. a student in the department, conducting research with an EEB faculty, etc) if you are unsure if you meet this criteria please send us a message via Message Center.
- Must be able to upload your poster to our BruinLearn website by the deadline (TBA later)
- Must be able to print and bring their poster session on the Research Day.
*students are responsible for printing their own poster and there may be a fee.

Are you interested in delivering a lightning talk?
Lighting talks are short, fast-paced presentation typically lasting around 5 minutes focused on a specific research topic to spark new conversations involving your research field.
We invite you to apply to give a lighting talks and are currently looking for the following categories:
- Undergraduate Student
- Graduate Student
- Post doctoral
- Faculty

Natalie Keung (pictured above) worked alongside Dr. Nathan Kraft and Dr. Andy Kleinhesselink at Sage Hill. Keung won the Robert K. Wayne Award for outstanding poster in Conservation Biology and Genomics at our Research Celebration Day last year in 2024.
