EE Bio Emeritus Professor Owen Raynal Lunt Passes Away
Ray Lunt, Emeritus Professor of Biology and long-time Director of the UCLA Laboratory of Biomedical and Environmental Sciences, passed away April 3,
2011 in Los Angeles. Ray. a soil scientist, was the last active faculty member from the former UCLA program in ornamental horticulture. He was well known as a handball wizard without equal.
Ray was born April 8, 1921 in El Paso, Texas to Velma Adel Jackson and Owen Lunt. Following his service in the U.S. Navy during WWII, Professor Lunt joined the faculty at UCLA in 1951. Surviving are wife Helen, three children David, Carol and Janet Tanner and six grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 9 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery, Provo, Utah, on Saturday, April 16 at 11 AM.
