In wildlife populations, we are faced with significant challenges in our ability to observe disease state, population incidence, and exposure. For that reason, it is essential to find principled mechanistic ways to integrate data sources and maximize their value. The goal of my doctoral research is to develop and investigate mathematical and computational tools to integrate multi scale data and improve our understanding of disease dynamics in a wildlife system. I will focus on the California Sea Lion (CSL; Zalophus californianus) population and its persistent and well-documented interaction with bacterial pathogen Leptospira interrogans.
