Welcome to the Lohmueller Lab

We develop and implement statistical methods to study genetic variation in humans and other species. We are located in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Our research is focused broadly population genetic questions. A major theme of our work is on understanding natural selection, particularly the removal of deleterious mutations (i.e. negative selection). We also specialize in using genetic variation data for inference of population history, medical genetics, and personal identification.
