Life Science Core Curriculum:

(Students considering pharmacy school should take the 20 series plus 130B.) - Mathematics 31A, 31B, and 32A

Requirements for the Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution Major:
- One course in morphology and systematics (EEB/Biology 103, 105, 110, or 130)
- One course in physiology (EEB/Biology 137, 146, 162, M166, 167 or 170)
- One additional laboratory course (EEB/Biology 101,103, 105, 110, 128, 136, 146, 157, 162,166, 167 or 170)
**You can satisfy this category by taking both LS 2 and LS 3 Fall 1998 or later. - Three courses in ecology, behavior, and evolution (EEB/Biology C119, 120, 122, 129, 135, or 136)
- One field quarter consisting of two to four courses: the Field Biology Quarter (FBQ),the Marine Biology Quarter (MBQ), or equivalent
- Chemistry 153A and 153L
- Two or more upper division courses in EEB (Biology), Chemistry and Biochemistry, Geography, Geology, Mathematics (except Mathematics 104, 106), Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, MCDB 138, or Physics. Recommended: taxon-oriented courses such as EEB (Biology) 107, 111, 112, 113A, 114, C115, 152; courses in ecological and evolutionary processes such as EEB (Biology) 116, 117, 122, M127, 128, C134, 168

Additional Information:
- All Life Science Core Curriculum courses must be passed with a letter grade of C- or better and must be completed with an overall grade point average of 2.0 or better. If you receive a grade of D or F in two core curriculum courses, either in separate courses or repetition of the same course, you are subject to dismissal from the major. EBE majors must earn a 2.0 (C) overall average in all coursesapplied toward the major.
- A maximum of four units of graduate work may be applied on the major
- A maximum of four units of EEB/Bio 199 or eight units of EEB/Bio 190 A&B may be applied to the major.
- Two two-unit courses count as one upper division requirement on the major. A six-unit course counts as one course on the requirements for the major.
- All courses must be taken for a letter grade.
- The College of Letters and Science requires a total of 60 upper division units for graduation (72 upper division units for students entering before Fall 1997).
Departmental Honors:
An overall GPA of 3.4 and a 3.4 in the global GPA of the major are required for graduation with honors in EBE. Highest honors in EBE are awarded to majors who have global and overall GPA's of 3.6 at graduation and who have satisfactorily completed EEB (Biology) 190A&B. Students need not apply for departmental honors; all students are reviewed for honors following the receipt of final transcripts.
