LOGISTICS OF THE CEREMONY

The Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Commencement Celebration starts promptly at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Wilson Plaza. You should arrive at Wilson Plaza no later than 8:00 a.m. and dressed in your cap and gown. DO NOT FORGET TO BRING YOUR NAME CARD WITH YOU!! When you arrive, you should proceed to the area between Kaufman Hall and the Fowler Museum.

When facing Wilson Plaza (located at the bottom of Janss Steps), turn directly to the right and you will see the area where students will be lining up. Remember to bring your name card with you!! This is extremely important. If this card is not filled out or you do not have yours, we will not know what name to call when you will be crossing the stage, nor will you be eligible to order any pictures from the ceremony.

Since there will be no rehearsal, be sure to arrive ON TIME in order to receive further instructions about seating and about walking across the stage. There will be no particular order of students for the graduation line-up aside from being grouped by major and minor (Biology, EBE, Marine Biology, Conservation Biology) so you will be able to sit with your friends within your major/minor.

The Commencement Celebration will consist of the singing of the National Anthem, a faculty speech, the student speaker and the reading of the names as students walk across the stage. It is expected to last for approximately one hour and twenty minutes. This is a formal occasion and a very important event so we want to minimize any distractions. If friends or family wish to take pictures or videos, they can do so from their seats, but they may NOT move into the aisles or to the front of the seating area at any time. Moreover, the focus of the Commencement Celebration is on the graduates. If your friends or family are bringing infants or small children, please advise them to sit near an aisle so that they can leave if necessary.
